Richey Manic Officially Declared Dead

Nice and morbid. Family get missing guitarist's legal status updated

Richey Edwards has officially been declared "presumed dead".The guitarist went missing nearly 14 years ago, although his body has never been found. According to the band's spokesperson, Edwards' family have obtained a court order officially changing his legal status. They added that the matter was "hugely emotional" for the band, who along with the guitarist's family are not commenting further at this stage.

The Manic Street Preachers have continued to pay Edwards' share of band royalties despite his disappearance. The star went missing from a hotel in central London on February 1, 1995 aged 27. His car was found near the Severn Bridge, and it is believed Edwards took his own life, although there have been a series of alleged sightings of the guitarist around the globe since his disappearance.

Radiohead premiere 3 new videos on MysSpace

MYSPACE MUSIC TO PREMIER RADIOHEAD’S THREE NEW VIDEOS IN THE COMING WEEKS STARTING NOVEMBER 21

VIDEOS WERE ALL OF WINNERS OF THE ANIBOOM ANIMATED VIDEO COMPETITION

MySpace Music announced that it will premier Radiohead's three new videos starting November 21 with the "Weird Fishes" and following with videos for "15 Step" and "Videotape" to be premiered on November 25 and November 28 respectively.

The creative teams behind the videos are Tobias Stretch from the US for "Weird Fishes;" the German team of Wolfgang Jaiser and Claus Winter for "Videotape" and Kota Totori from Japan for "15 Step." MySpace Music had previously premiered the video for "Reckoner" which was created by Clement Picon of France, which the band chose as the official video for the song. All four videos were winners of the In Rainbows Animated Music Video Contest. The contest was put together by aniBoom (aniboom.com), the premiere virtual animation studio, TBD Records and the band. The winners were selected by the members of Radiohead themselves .

"The aniBoom video competition, totally blown me away it has," said Thom Yorke, lead vocalist of Radiohead. "We are proud that In Rainbows songs were the source of inspiration for so many amazing creations."

Dr Pepper sticking to their Guns

Huge Demand for Drink crashes special site built on Gn'R promise.

Drinks company Dr Pepper have extended their 'Chinese Democracy'-related offer of a free soda until 6pm EST today (November 24), after massive demand crashed the company's servers on release day yesterday (November 23). Everyone in the states was offered the drink apart from previous band members Slash & Buckethead.

In March, the drinks company announced it would give a free Dr Pepper soft drink to everyone in the United States if Guns N' Roses released their long-awaited 'Chinese Democracy' album this year. Guns N' Roses had been working on the album since 1994, and it finally came out in the US on Sunday.

In addition to extending the free drinks offer, during which consumers were invited to apply for a coupon online, the company also increased its server capacity and added a toll-free number - 1-888-DRPEPPER. However, despite the additional server space, the site still remained largely inaccessible today.

New LCD Soundsystem Album on the way

Happy Days, LCD Soundsystem have announced a new album

Mainman James Murphy has revealed he has written the band's next album, quashing rumours that the band were unlikely to return following the release of 2007's 'Sound Of Silver'.

The producer/solo artist said that he has penned eight songs for the album, which will be the third LCD effort, and is keeping the tracks under lock and key - in his head.

"I write all my music in my head, I never demo," Murphy said "I get to a point where there are too many songs and I have to get them recorded. I recently felt that. I've got eight in my head - that's critical mass." Murphy said he was unsure when he would begin recording the new album, but said that when he did, he wouldn't tell anyone.

"When I start recording I don't tell anyone not even my manager," he said, possibly explaining some recent reports where Hot Chip/LCD guitarist Al Doyle claimed the group were finished. "I'll go away for a month to a studio outside the city [New York] and do it."

Suge Knight Cocks up again

Some people just never learn.

Rap impresario Marion 'Suge' Knight is being charged with battery and drug possession charges.

The Clark County district attorney's office in Nevada sent the criminal complaint to the Las Vegas Justice Court on November 17.

Police claim that they saw the former Death Row Records boss beating his girlfriend while brandishing a knife in a parking lot near the Las Vegas Strip in August, reports the Associated Press.

The woman was later treated for injuries at a nearby hospital. They also said that Knight was in possession of Ecstasy and hydrocodone when they arrested him. He was later released on $19,000 bail.

Meanwhile, Knight has filed a suit of his own against Kanye West for damages stemming from an incident in which he was shot in Miami, as previously reported.

Go Cali.

McCartney to release 14 minute Beatles 'lost' song

Macca confirms 'Carnival Of Light' exists

Paul McCartney has confirmed that the mythical Beatles song 'Carnival Of Light' exists, and has suggested it may soon see a release. The experimental 14-minute song was recorded in 1967 for an electronic music festival, but was never released.

Speaking to BBC Radio 4's Front Row, McCartney said: "The time has come for it to get its moment. I like it because it's The Beatles free, going off piste. I said all I want you to do is just wander around all the stuff, bang it, shout, play it, it doesn't need to make any sense. Hit a drum then wander on to the piano, hit a few notes, just wander around. So that's what we did and then put a bit of an echo on it. It's very free."

According to BBC News, McCartney pushed for the song to be included on The Beatles' 'Anthology' releases in the mid-'90s, but it was vetoed by the rest of the band.

Anthony Keidis Autobiography to be turned into TV Show

RHCP frontman Anthony Kiedis' 2004 autobiography, 'Scar Tissue', is set to be adapted for a new TV show on US network HBO.

The show, produced by Marc Abrams and Michael Benson, will be an offbeat comedy, reports the Guardian. It will focus on the singer's early life in Los Angeles, where he lived with his father, a drug dealer to musicians in the area, as well as the LA rock scene.

Red Hot Chili Peppers are currently on a hiatus, with the group previously stating they would take a break from band commitments for at least a year from May 2008.

Cream's Ginger Baker threatens to appear naked in court

Former Cream drummer Ginger Baker has said he is prepared to strip off in court to secure the prosecution of a woman who is alleged to have defrauded him out of £30,000.

Baker, who lives in South Africa, claims that bank clerk Lindiwe Noko conned him out of the money after he hired her to oversee his finances. Noko argues that she was in a relationship with the 69-year-old drummer and that any money she received was given as a gift, an accusation strongly denied by Baker.

The drummer says he can prove the couple were never intimate by stripping off for the court, reports The Telegraph. "I've a scar that only a woman who had a thing with me would know. It's there and she doesn't know it's there," Baker said. "I'm quite prepared to strip. It may well come down to it."

Baker is said to have paid Noko £7 a day for her support, along with perks including a digital camera and money to have an operation. Noko denies 27 counts of fraud.

Guitar Heroics

American Schoolboy drops out of school to focus on Guitar Hero career.

Blake Peebles, 16, quit his sophomore year at North Raleigh Christian Academy to concentrate on perfecting his game, which so far has seen him win prizes from gift certificates to gaming equipment and chicken sandwiches.

The Raleigh, North Carolina native’s parents hired a tutor and allowed their son to drop out of school after he wore them down with his complaints.

"We couldn't take the complaining anymore. He always told me that he thought school was a waste of time," his mother Hunter told The News & Observer.

Peebles hopes to get to professional-level gaming, which can see competitors earn from $25,000 to $80,000 per year, although the figure is usually at the lower end and sponsorship opportunities are rare for competitors who coming in any lower than first place.

The Doors to celebrate Jim's 65th Birthday in LA Bar

Memorial plaque will mark spot where singer urinated on the bar

The Doors' Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger will be on hand to celebrate what would have been frontman Jim Morrison's 65th birthday at one of the singer's famed Los Angeles hangouts.

The event will take place at Barney's Beanery on December 8 and will be broadcast live by LA radio station KLOS. Morrison, who died in 1971, used to hang out there along with Janis Joplin in the late 1960s. He was later banned from the West Hollywood establishment for reportedly urinating on the bar.

At the event next month, a memorial plaque will be unveiled at the spot where he urinated. Manzarek and Krieger will also sign copies of The Doors' 'Live at The Matrix 1967', which was released Stateside on November 18.

The Killers - Human Live at MTV Europe Awards 08

Came across this performance from The Killers last night in Liverpool. Looks good.

Hot Chip Live at Brixton

I saw Hot Chip last night at Brixton Academy and it was a spectacle. I have their last 2 albums and only really know the main songs and haven't got properly into them. I think some of the songs on the albums sound a bit tame and weak but live though, is something different. THeir albums are definately made for the live sound as the performance brilliant. The sound was perfect and the night turned into more of a club night than a concert.

Wasnt sure about the final song which was a cover of 'Nothing Compares to You'. Nice cover and something different to your usual concert finale of saving the main tune until the end. Wasted on my party which was 3 lads not reallydown with male bonding, perfect for the drunken Aussies diluting the crowd.
